Apollo Hospitals is to manage the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital at Male, the Maldives. This follows an agreement
signed between the Maldives Government and Apollo Hospitals today providing for Apollo Hospitals to manage the
hospital in association with the Maldives Government for a management fee.
The President of Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, said an investment of $25 million will be needed to upgrade the
280-bed hospital to handle various specialties.The investments, addition of new facilities and human resource development will involve a mix of investors, multi-lateral organizations and government bodies.
Ms Preetha Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals, said IGMH's infrastructure would be assessed in the next
three months and then specialty units such as cardiac, orthopaedic and trauma care would be set up over the next 18
months. Apollo Hospitals would manage the hospital for 15 years. |
